i love fall. a lot. i love that the sun is shining but the air is crisp.

the fragrance of mulling spices and yummy candles filling the house.

jeans, sweaters and boots….i could go on and on 🙂

we recently had our Bible study group over for dinner so i snapped a couple of quick pictures.

since you’ve last seen the kitchen we have added some new seating.

we went with slipcovered chairs from ikea. they wash up great and are comfy 🙂

the barstools are from overstock and add the

perfect industrial look i was going for up against the brick kickwall

the easy centerpieces were a couple of bundles of dried wheat from michaels.

i keep my fall decor fairly simple. some fresh mums on the coffee table.

a cozy throw. can you see the color on the trees starting to change?

quick and easy master bedroom makeover

as the time draws near for us to leave this house i feel like i want to document the rooms a little better for the memories. and since i recently did a mini makeover in the master bedroom i thought i would start there.

this is the before: the putty-ish color of the walls is what started the project. 🙂 i was out to neutralize and go lighter. somewhat tricky with dark furniture.

we painted the walls super light

faced our bed a different direction

replaced the lamps

added a $3.00 garage sale mirror to my nightstand

changed the bedskirt to a solid white one

splashed a little color with a soft throw from tuesday mornings

and if we were not moving that fan would beouttahere!

my nightstand. simplified and updated.

i also switched out the bleh rocker for my fun blue chair!

pillow talk

a couple of weeks ago i won a giveaway from melanie over at pretties and posies!

i won the “H” pillow and the “No. 7” pillow….so cute.

H is our family initial and 7 because we have 7 people in our family.

the pillows came packaged so pretty that i had to take a picture 🙂

i tried them out a few different places.

before settling on their final destination (for now)….our bed.

i’ve decided to share some pictures of the house we live in now. we have loved living in this house and making this home for the past 8 years.

this is our family room. when we moved here the entire house was a pinkish tan. we tackled this room first and painted it a dark red. it was pretty but we like to paint so about a year later we painted it this yellow. all i remember is the color is called ‘Oolong’ i don’t remember who its by.

i have rearranged the furniture in this room SOOO many times! i think though, that this set up is my favorite. the white lamp is a favorite thrift store find….i have yet to replace the drum shade (this one is yellowed) but i did not know they are so expensive! if anyone has an INexpensive source for lamp shades please share 🙂
the brick wall was a favorite feature that i really liked when we first were looking at this house. it makes this room so cozy.

the huge window on the mantle, i found at an antique barn in shipshewana…. i remember carrying it down two flights of stairs to pay for it and that baby is heavy! i had the intention of hanging it on a wall with black and white pictures mounted behind the glass…but alas, i never got to it and having it on the mantle has kind of grown on me 🙂

painted piano. the reveal.

i am so excited! the piano turned out beautiful and the fresh paint just makes me want to play it!

i still need to find some cute little knobs to replace the brass ones.

the color is: benjamin moore wedgewood gray and i had it mixed in their soft gloss. i purchased 1 quart and used a little over half of it.

its such a soothing blend between blue and gray…..leaning more toward the blue.

i was happy to find out that once i lifted the piano face up i found a built in ‘prop’ which is used when it gets tuned. the little wooden prop worked out perfectly for holding the face up and painting the little spaces. my other ‘prop’ was boone’s book 🙂
