stopping time

July 2, 2009 August Fields

I find myself rocking my baby longer and longer each night. And I really don’t mind still getting up in the middle of the night to nurse him……..

Man is like a breath; his days are like a fleeting shadow

Kids behind the Camera

June 28, 2009 August Fields

As I downloaded pictures off my camera I notices several (like 30!) pictures that the kids had taken that I didn’t know about 🙂

There was a series of 3 pictures that explained so much to me about some crayons I was picking up the other day…..remember ….kiddos took these 🙂

Picture 3: ah ha! I wondered “why are all these crayons lined up and who did this?” Proof is in the camera buddy! 🙂

Crazy About Chalkboards

June 26, 2009 August Fields

Gina over at The Shabby Chic Cottage is having a fantabulous Chalkboard Party!!! How FUN 🙂

This is the chalkboard in our school room. The story is: my dad found four great chalkboards leaning against a dumpster right outside a local bakery. They were changing their displays and were just going to throw them out! Yikes! He gave this one to me.

I wiped it down and proceeded to hand paint several little whimsical designs on the borders, right on the wood. I did this last year before I began blogging so I didn’t even think to document the process. 🙁

I didn’t want it to look “perfect” just FUN! 🙂 I just used the paints I had on hand..some craft paints and some off the lids of the cans of paint we have. I used a water-based poly sealer clear coat on top.

Typically it will have the kids’ memorization work for the week on it.
