operation christmas child: fill a shoebox!
How to fill a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child
do you fill shoeboxes?
if you have never filled a shoebox we would love for you to join our family this year!
i am going to do a series of posts that show how and why we fill our shoeboxes.
but hear this: they need to be ready for your local drop off NOVEMBER 14-21!
for all the information right from the organization checkout and save the following website:
we are filling five shoeboxes with toys, candy and toiletries to be sent to children around the world.
this has been such a great way to prepare our hearts as we head into the season of Christmas.
to fill a shoebox you need:
1. a standard size shoebox or small plastic container similar in size
2. decide if you want to fill a shoebox for a boy or a girl
3. choose an age range 2-4, 5-9 or 10-14
go out with your children and start choosing small items that fit the criteria.
some of the items we’ve purchased so far:
socks
combs
stickers
small ball
jump rope
individually wrapped hard candy
hair clips
toothbrush/toothpaste
crayons
markers
pad of paper
some items we have yet to purchase:
small cars and trucks
small dolls
tshirts
we’re just getting started so there is plenty of time! will you join us??
“go, fill a shoebox!”
christmas 2010
christmas eve. we came home from church and the kids all opened up new pajamas.
christmas morning. hank led the pack into the family room!
dancy spotted the family surprise from grandpa and grandma first.
a new toboggan!
this baby has already hit the back hills! so fun!
i don’t think boone has let that nerf gun out of his sight…..still.
dubs was super into unwrapping the gifts. such a fun age!
dancy was SO excited to receive her very own sewing machine! the other kids
were all happy for her too…..no one knew she was getting it 🙂
dubs is loving his cloth john deere book i found on etsy. he
calls big trucks and tractors “big bews”
i gave mr. daddy a turkey call and a deer call….kind of as a joke. since he is NOT a hunter
and we live in the middle of a ton of wildlife.
well 5 minutes later a huge flock of turkey went strutting across the back yard and he
opens up the window and uses his call. they all ran away 🙂
boone was busy climbing windows to retrieve nerf gun suction bullets 🙂
merry christmas little man.
fun masks from etsy.
merry christmas and a happy new year!
easy christmas card display
i love getting the mail at Christmas time! we are blessed to have so many loved ones in our lives…
look at all the cards!
normally, i have the cards in a cute little basket in our foyer. this year, since
i have a huge blank, undecorated wall, in my kitchen i decided to string all the cards up.
i used disposable command hooks (that leave no mark 🙂 ), ribbon, mini clothes pins from hobby lobby, thread and white pom poms.
super easy and fun for everyone to look at 🙂 and it alleviates the dilemma of having no idea
what to put on that wall for decor. temporarily.
